Scientists are now looking at possible outcomes of global warming with a 15 to 20 foot sea level rise.  The results for our planet would be catastrophic.
 
Hurricane Michael was the 3rd worst storm ever to hit the USA.  It had 155mph winds and a 14-foot storm surge.  Storms appear to be gettng worse, from the warming of climate change.  Yet we are still doing so little to help.

Once storm surges reach a certain point (which will vary for each area), the water will not fully recede.  Low-lying areas will simply fill with the salt water of the ocean, and stay - ruining communities, killing crops amd wildlife, creating toxic pollution (as everything mixes together, such as gasoline), and getting into underground clean water wells.  The long term damage will be incalculable, and very long lasting.

Some scientists are forecasting up to 20 feet in sea rise, which means storm surges that are far worse.  Every major city on all coasts in the planet could be destroyed.
 
Hurricane Michael will cost billions in storm damage, perhaps as much as $30 billion - and future storms are projected to be worse.  When will we start to fight global warming?  It is the weather extremes that cause the most damage - and weather extremes are what Climate Change is causing.
 
Many of the poorer communities are in low-lying areas, which are the hardest hit by storms in general - and storm surge in particular.  It looks like future storm surge could completely, and permanently, inundate entire communities.

In many areas, weather is just weather; its hard to make a connection to climate change.  But the larger storms (Hurricans & Tornados) may get worse because of climate change.  As the weather warms, there is more heat and turbulence in the atmosphere, and more water vapor.  Also, the ocean surface is warmer and that can affect storms.

Time will tell but it is very likely that this will get worse, not better.  Everyone needs to be more prepared for worsening storms, and these preparations are happening all over the world.  It has nothing to do with politics it is just the reality of the world we live in.
